Since we are expanding our family, I think it is a good idea to start blogging again for my kids to look back at someday. We are expecting our first baby on March 30th. We plan to name him Ryker but are not sure about the middle name yet. Jeremy especially likes this name, it was his idea. We are very excited to welcome him to the world and see what his personality is like. There are many things I hope he gets from Jeremy and a few things I hope he gets from me. Jeremy is going to be a great dad, I am excited to see them together. I am starting to feel more and more nervous as it gets closer to his arrival, we have the majority of things ready for him, just putting some finishing touches on the baby room and then I will post some pics of it. Both of our families are very excited to meet him as well, I know he is going to be one spoiled kid. When we found out we were having a boy, I was not surprised. For some reason, I just felt like it was a boy. We had our families watch the ultrasound before we were going to tell them what it was, but I accidentally spilled the beans ten seconds into it when I said, "look he's moving his arm!"
Since I last posted our families have changed a lot. My brother Taylor got married to Jamie a few years ago, Alicia is currently in college, Colton will graduate high school this year, Tanner will start 7th grade, my mom is working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and loving it, and my dad is working as a teacher still and enjoying model railroading. My parents remodeled their house and it looks wonderful.
Jeremy's brother Jordan came home from his mission in December and we are happy to have him back. He served a mission to Argentina. Marissa and Kylee are also growing up so fast into beautiful young women. Jeremy's parents are both working hard and enjoy camping and fishing. Although it is hard to deal with change and growing up, each step of life seems to get better and better. I am excited to see what this year will bring us.

Tagged!!!

1. They have a lot of fun events including an uphill bike challenge race, National Guard climbing wall, food, miniature ponies from Howdy Town, and a 4 mile/6 mile/10 mile or 15 mile trail run. Last year, I helped out at one of the water stations for the runners up in the canyon, but this year I decided to participate in the run itself! When you sign up, you have to choose which distance you want to complete. I kept debating between the 6 mile and the 10 mile, but decided I would push myself and do the 10 mile. The night before the race, I ate pasta and woke up an hour before we had to leave to do extended stretches. I ate a powerbar for breakfast but could only force half of it down! When I stepped outside, I realized it was raining and started to worry the race would be cancelled, but when we pulled into the Equestrian Center, everything was going on as normal. I signed in and armed with my ipod and powerbar gel we began the race at 8:15. To begin, all racers took the same path. At the first water station, the 6, 10 and 15 milers branched off from the 4 milers. We continued our climb up the mountain and after what seemed like forever, we were able to run downhill for a while, which was a needed relief. The veiw at that point was absolutely beautiful, I could see over the whole valley. While the rain had left some very muddy areas, it was the perfect temperature. The trail took me back to the first water station and the 6 milers headed back down the canyon and the 10 and 15 milers took a different route. This area of the race I was pretty tired but I had slurped down my energy powergel and had some renewed strength. After 2 1/2 more miles, I reached the 10 mile turn around point. The 15 mile runners continued on from that point but I was ecstatic to be heading back. It felt great to be able to tell other runners that they had almost reached the turn around point. From there, I headed one last time to the water checkpoint and then I got to head back to the equestrian center. When I got to the finish line and saw Jeremy, my mom and my little bro Tanner waiting for me, I was so relieved to be done! After that, Tanner wanted to ride the buckin bronco so we watched him do that, and then we got to see the National Guard apache helicopter take off, which was amazing. The man standing next to where i was sitting on the curb actually partially fell on top of me, the force from the helicopter was so strong! We had to head to Costco after to pick up a few things and I looked at Jeremy and said, my face feels like it is covered in dirt, does it look like it? He laughed and said, no it is covered in salt from your sweat. I looked in the mirror and my face was absolutely covered in dried salt. It looked like I had taken a face plant in the ocean!

As soon as I got home, I soaked in the warmest bath ever for about an hour. My legs were sore as could be but they tensed up and hurt worse if I was sitting or standing for long periods of time. We went to see that new Zohan movie of Adam Sandlers and I had to get up and walk around for a bit because my legs were so uncomfortable. Luckily, by Sunday they were still sore but bearable! The pain was definately worth the sense of accomplishment I felt for completing a goal of mine!

Warm Weather!

Yay! It is finally starting to heat up this year! I thought I would go crazy from all the rain and snow. Sunshine just makes everything better. We got our central air installed just in time too! No more swamp cooler to not do its job! What a relief. I am getting so excited to do summer activites. The other day we were trimming branches from this massive tree in our front yard that is threatening to overtake our house. I had climbed up in it and there was this particular spot where a bunch of branches had blown off during the windy months and gathered together. We were glad to be getting rid of them, but before we got started, Jeremy noticed that they were sheltering a birds nest. As we were in the tree, mama bird cam flying over and sat right down in her nest and stayed there until we were done trimming the branches from the other areas of the tree. She was protecting her baby eggs. Of course we wouldn't touch any of the branches near her nest, so it looks like those dead branches will remain there for a while. The other morning, I woke up really early and was unable to get back to sleep. All I could hear were birds chirping. When it got lighter, I had Jeremy go climb in the tree and check if the baby birds had hatched and they had! I climbed up a ladder and took a picture of them with their mouths open wide cause they were hungry. I was able to take a picture of mama bird on her nest from earlier as well, so I will try and post both pictures, they are so sweet. There is also a daddy bird and we can see him and mama finding food all the time to give to their little ones. It is going to be fun to watch them grow!
